ARTIST STATEMENT

This body of work was intended as an experiment with uncontrolled photography, welcoming the unexpected and accidents. I was more concerned about the visual perception than conceptual meaning. I wanted to present an impressive diversity in color and mood, inviting geometry, symmetry, shapes and lines into the frame while still maintaining a formal connection between the images. A pleasant journey that blurs the boundaries between photography and painting. Bright, strong and emotional.

It is an ongoing series inspired by an artist Andreas Gursky, especially his photograph Rhein II and an abstract expressionist painter known for his color field paintings, Mark Rothko.

Awards

In 2016 selected images from this series were awarded by International Photography Awards, held in Los Angeles, with an Honorable Mention Award in Fine Arts- Abstract category and an Honorable Mention in Fine Art- Landscape. 

This prestigious worldwide photography competition has received 17,027 submissions from 162 countries.

Earlier that year, it was a awarded with yet another Honorable Mention Award at prestigious Prix de la Photographie Awards Paris.
